Frugal Friday- Bless This Budget
By Heather Tabers

I once heard a joke about a little boy who was grocery shopping with his mother. When their basket was full he asked her, “Wouldn’t it just be easier to ask God to bless all the food at once instead of asking Him at every meal?”
I don’t suggest praying over your food in the grocery store for the mere convenience of it. However, I do highly recommend praying over your grocery list before you shop.
Everything is better when God is in it! He is concerned with the details of our lives yet He will not go where He is not invited. So, before you lug three kids through the store in a squeaky race car shaped grocery cart with a wobbly wheel, ask God to go with you.
Commit your budget to Him and ask Him to help you make wise decisions about the purchases you make. Ask Him to help you find the best prices and sales so you can be the best steward you can be of the money He has given you.
Tempted to buy a lot of junk food? Ask Him for strength to resist it. Want to help a local food pantry? Ask God to stretch your budgeted allotment to feed others.
Just don’t try to do it all yourself. Ask God to go with you. The trip will go much smoother and the blessings will overflow your cart.
